Tech Force

What is it?

The objective of the LaGrave Learning Center's TechForce Computer and Job Skill Training Program is to teach and enhance the participants computer skills to increase their employability.  The training will include instructions, lessons, and tests in Windows XP, Microsoft Office XP, Internet, E-mail, Publisher, job search, retention skills, and related life skills.  It is our goal to ensure that the employability of program participants will be significantly enhanced by the individual's goal completion date.

The extent of the success of TechForce lies within the individual participants.  To be successful, dedication to the program is required.  The following are the responsibilities of the participant:

  • Attend all Seminars/Trainings as defined on the training plan
  • Attend scheduled training times on a regular basis
  • Attend mandatory activities
  • Train a minimum of 10 hours per week at the Learning Center
  • Laptop Checkout Opportunities Grand Forks Housing Authority

Fee

The fee for this training is $120.  Payments may be made throughout the course of the program if necessary.

Volunteering

A volunteer program has been set up for the following reasons.

  • To gain benefits of work experience

  • Volunteer hours on a resume grab an employer's attention

  • People learn when they teach.  Assisting in teaching computer classes will strengthen one's computer skills

You will be asked to volunteer during your involvement in TechForce.  Volunteering may consist of staffing open computer, assisting with classes, or assisting in other Learning Center activities.  As one's computer skills progress, volunteers may be asked to mentor other students who are in the process of acquiring computer skills.
