The Grand Forks Housing Authority manages
apartment communities which receive subsidy from Section 8 Project-Based
Programs to assist residents with their rental costs. The properties are well
maintained by the Housing Authority's professional maintenance staff who respond
promptly to calls for repairs. Several of the properties offer Neighborhood
Network Learning Centers and Resident Service Coordinators. There are two
multi-family sites and four sites which are limited to elderly and disabled
families. The housing assistance is connected to the apartment and cannot be
transferred to another site.
Families must apply and go through the waiting list and eligibility process.
When an applicant is approved, they must schedule a leasing appointment with an
Administrator at the Grand Forks Housing Authority office. The tenant's rights
and responsibilities are then explained as well the family's obligation to the
Housing Assistance Program.
The tenant's rent is based on the greater of 30% of the family's adjusted gross
monthly income, 10% of unadjusted gross monthly income, or the minimum rent of
$25.00.
